The strange creature was discovered on the island of Sakhalin on the Pacific coast , in the Far East. No one had ever seen anything like that in Russia before.
Locals took pictures of the animal’s body and posted it on the internet. The images immediately stirred up social media.
Some believe it to be a Ganges dolphin originating from India because of its long body and narrow beak. However, in fact, this dolphin has no tail hair and the size of the beak is only half the size of the creature found in Russia.
An expert also rejected the Ganges dolphin theory because freshwater creatures cannot live in saltwater waters and appear as far away as the Far East, according to the Siberian Times.

Based on the features in the head, it is likely that this is a giant dolphin, said Nikolay Kim at the Sakhalin Center for Fisheries and Oceanography Research.
‘I doubt this creature lives in Russian waters. It is likely that warm ocean currents brought it here from elsewhere. However, the animal appears to have the misfortune of having hair while the dolphin does not. It could be a very rare species,” Nikolay said.
