Secυriпg the Skies: Hesbυrgt Iппovates with a Cυttiпg-Edge Electroпic Warfare Data Aпalyzer for the Eυrofighter

HENSOLDT, a leading provider of sensor solutions, is deploying its latest technological innovations in sensor data fusion and analysis at the forefront of futuristic and highly advanced electronic warfare capabilities.

Through the implementation of its Spectrum Battle Management Suite (SBMS), which creates a situational picture from a huge amount of Electronic Warfare (EW) data, along with an advanced version of the evaluation software “Praetoria,” known as the so-called Electronic Warfare Data Analyzer (EWDA), HENSOLDT has developed a tool that enables mission data of the Electronic Warfare operator to be evaluated much faster and more precisely, allowing for proactive decision-making for programmed future missions. These electronic warfare self-protective systems, such as that of the Electronic Warfare, require system settings that tell the system how to be expected and which jamming techniques should be used. These system settings are taken from recorded reconnaissance data from previous missions. The more accurate and comprehensive this mission data can be evaluated, the better the self-protective system can be programmed for the next mission.

“The amount of data that modern sensors deliver today can play a pivotal role in tactically utilizing the advanced mechanisms of Electronic Warfare,” says Roland Castor, Head of Spectrum Dominance at HENSOLDT. “With the help of our Spectrum Battle Management Suite (SBMS), we are able to develop an automated solution that proves its worth, especially in the demanding operational scenarios of the Electronic Warfare environment. The assertiveness and protection of aircrews against various threats, specifically in the domain of electromagnetic spectrum, are significantly improved.”

The SBMS software enables real-time processing of Electronic Warfare (EW) operations based on recorded reconnaissance data, offering precise analysis of extensive flight data in the electromagnetic spectrum. Tailored for the complexities of Electronic Support Measures (ESM) and Electronic Countermeasure (ECM) systems, the SBMS provides sophisticated and mission-specific optimization for self-protection systems. The results ensure the targeted and effective application of countermeasures, enhancing the overall survivability of aircrews and the success of missions.

On the other hand, the Electronic Warfare Data Analyzer (EWDA) software, a part of the HENSOLDT toolset, enhances the analysis of extensive flight data in real-time, with a focus on Electronic Support Measures (ESM) and Electronic Countermeasure (ECM) systems. Synthetic laboratory tests are conducted in real-time, allowing for adaptive optimization of defense and countermeasure applications based on the latest and most relevant intelligence. As a technological leader, HENSOLDT drives the development of defense electronics and operational solutions, actively expanding its portfolio through innovative approaches to adapt to evolving threats and cybersecurity challenges. With over 6,400 employees, HENSOLDT achieved a turnover of 1.5 billion euros in 2021, showcasing its commitment to advancing technological excellence in defense.
