The CH-47 Chinook, developed and made by American rotorcraft company Vertol, a division of Boeing Vertol, is a renowned tandem rotor helicopter. It is highly regarded in the West for its exceptional lifting capabilities and is commonly referred to as a heavy-lift helicopter. Its name, “Chinook,” originates from the Native American Chinook people residing in Oregon and Washington state.
Improved and more powerful versions of the CH-47 have been developed since the helicopter eпteгed service. The U.S. агmу’s first major design leap was the now-common CH-47D, which eпteгed service in 1982.
