A woman has given birth to five healthy daughters in just half an hour despite only thinking she was pregnant with one child.
Manita Singh, 25, was admitted to a local government Һo?ρι̇ᴛαℓ in Ambikapur, in Chhattisgarh in eastern India, yesterday morning after complaining of labour pains at 26 weeks of pregnancy.
The doctors, who started delivering the babies at 11am found she was carrying not one but five baby girls – because Manita had never had an ultrasound.
The babies, all weighing just over 3lbs each, are under doctor’s supervision in the neo-natal Intensive Care Unit.
The father of the infants, Mahesh Singh, 26, is extremely happy with the birth of his daughters.

He said: ‘I am extremely grateful to God for blessing us with not one but five children.
‘We were heartbroken when we ℓo?ᴛ our first child, a son, immediately after birth two years ago. I believe God has compensated the ℓo??.

While both the mother and the babies are stable, doctors are keeping a constant check on the infants as they believe their ᴄҺαпᴄe? of survival are very slim.
Dr Tekam, who led the team of doctors in the delivery, said: ‘This is the first case in my career where I have delivered five babies through normal birth.
‘We are very happy for the parents but the babies are under supervision as they all are premature.
‘While they are healthy, we cannot say if they will survive. However, we are doing every ɓι̇ᴛ to save them.’
