Unforgettable Bond: A Father’s Support in Underwater Birth, Twin mаɡіс сарtᴜгed in Exquisite Photo!

If you’re anticipating the arrival of your baby and debating whether to have a birth photographer present during delivery, these images will undoubtedly convince you to absolutely, without a doubt, hire that photographer. When a baby is born, it’s often described as “the miracle of life.” However, it’s safe to say that some births are a little more miraculous than others. With over 70 births documented in her six years as a professional birth photographer and doula, Robyn Baker was unquestionably well-prepared to capture the extraordinary home birth of twins. It appears that her dedication and hard work have truly paid off.

Robyn Baker, a skilled birth photographer and doula located in Temecula, California, captured a poignant series of images during a water birth on February 24th. These photos eloquently documented every stage of the birthing process, even in the midst of its swift unfolding, which left the birth team unable to arrive in time.

The photographer describes the moment as “truly one of the most incredible moments of my career,” and one of the shots even emerged as the winner of the International Association of Professional Birth Photographers’ 2016 Image of the Year Competition. She shared, “These parents are experienced home birthers, having welcomed their first child at home just two years prior to the twins. Between contractions and capturing photographs, I was focused on helping them prepare a space to birth. Being an experienced home birther myself, I knew what needed to be done.”

While snapping photos and assisting the mother with contractions, doula Robyn was also actively involved in preparing the space as the birth progressed at such a rapid pace that the birth team didn’t even have time to physically attend. However, the group managed to communicate with the doctor over the phone, and in the end, “The parents were calm and peaceful and brought their babies into the world effortlessly.”

Robyn filled the tub at the perfect temperature, and the mother climbed in, immediately beginning to push. What’s even more incredible is that nothing was amiss when the first baby boy came out, but his brother was born “en caul,” meaning he was born still inside his amniotic sac, which only happens in about 1 in 80,000 births. Robyn explained, “They had 30 minutes of bonding time with Baby A before Baby B made his way into his father’s hands still en caul (covered in the amniotic sac).”

The resulting images, both in color and black and white, capture the mother with her hair tied up in a bun, displaying a range of emotions from pained to delighted as she and her tattooed partner welcome their new baby boys. Robyn remarked, “Everyone was truly grateful for such a wonderful natural birth experience. Women are incredible when they follow their body’s natural instincts!”
